Freelance Council

The SATW Freelance Council is made up of members who are self-employed travel journalists: writers, photographers, authors, broadcasters, creators of mobile apps and travel websites, content creators and bloggers providing travel information to the public.

Active members – SATW members who are working journalists – may qualify to affiliate themselves with either the Freelance Council or the Editors Council, depending on what their work entails. Click here for Freelance Council criteria.

The Freelance Council provides a forum for discussion among freelance travel journalists, works to enhance the role of the freelancer in the field of travel communications, and raises skill levels through professional development seminars.

Usually, Freelance Council meets once annually in addition to the society-wide annual convention.
