Host a Convention or Meeting

SATW shines a light on a major travel destination every year during our Annual Convention, held in the fall. But all throughout the year, our Chapters, Councils, and Board of Directors hold business meetings at different travel destinations around the world. During these meetings, destinations have the opportunity to showcase what they have to offer to the traveling public, enabling our members to research story angles.

Each of our Chapters, Councils, and the Board go about their selection of meeting sites a bit differently, but all follow similar formats. If you’re interested in hosting a future SATW meeting, please review the guidelines for the group you’d like to host.

Freelance Council Meetings - SATW Freelance Council Meetings are held a minimum of once annually at a destination suitable for story material for our working journalists. During our Council Meetings, professional development sessions are available to our members, as are tours provided by the host and the opportunity for individual research.




Board of Directors Meetings - Each year, SATW considers a number of offers from potential destination hosts for each Board Meeting. SATW seeks a location of interest for our travel journalists which - in addition to its potential as a tourism destination - has appropriate meeting facilities for our Board. Two board meetings are held each year: one in the winter, the other immediately prior to our Annual Convention, in a location within a half-day's travel of the convention site.
